Hello from Westfield Quality Care of Aurora.
This week is Australia Themed Week, the residents learned fun facts about Australia, watched a video about Australia and tried Tim Tam’s (an Australian snack). The residents painted beautiful sunsets with kangaroos. Men’s group played games, had root beer floats, and watched a video on tourist attractions in Nebraska.
For our COVID update this week there are no COVID positive residents or staff. Our facility remains open, and residents are able to participate in regular activities. Please remember to wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer often. If you have any COVID symptoms please stay home and take care of yourself, we will take good care of the residents, so you do not have to worry. I want to thank everyone that has been visiting and helping to keep our loved ones safe.
Interesting facts about July:
One of the more famous statements in United States history was uttered in July, though it wasn’t within American borders or even on the planet Earth. On July 20, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong, after stepping onto the surface of the moon, declared, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.”
Two men who played integral roles in the American colonies gaining their independence from Great Britain both passed away on July 4th, the day that celebrates that very independence. On July 4th, 1826, former presidents John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, who were once friends, then political rivals and, finally, friends again, passed away within hours of each other.
