COVID 19 Update

2/23/2024

Hello from Westfield Quality Care of Aurora.

This week was sloth week, the resident learned about sloths.  They watched a documentary about sloths and learned some fun facts.  For the women’s group they colored sloth posters, had popcorn and punch.  This week’s exercise was hitting balloons with pool noodles.  There was a small group activity sensory time fun with shaving cream.  It wouldn’t be sloth week without sloth BINGO, after the game names were drawn for a souvenir stuffed sloth.

For our COVID update this week there are no COVID positive residents or staff.  Our facility remains open, and residents are able to participate in regular activities.  Please remember to wash your hands frequently and use hand sanitizer often. If you have any COVID symptoms please stay home and take care of yourself, we will take good care of the residents, so you do not have to worry.  I want to thank everyone that has been visiting and helping to keep our loved ones safe.

Here are some interesting facts about Nebraska:

The birthplace of Kool-Aid

In 1927, the ever-popular juice drink Kool-Aid was invented by Edwin Perkins in Hastings, Nebraska. Perkins transformed his soft drink syrup “Fruit Smack” into the famous Kool-Aid powder, making for an easier shipping process.

The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska, houses the largest indoor rainforest in the United States. The Lied Lunge, covering 1.5 acres of land with an eight-story building, features flora, fauna and animals from rainforests all over the globe.

Best regards,
