COVID 19 Update

3/24/2023

Hello from Westfield Quality Care of Aurora.

I want to say thank you to everyone who has already donated items for the resident Easter baskets, you really do not know how much this appreciated.  With that I will continue to ask for donations.  Please help make our residents Easter baskets full of exciting and entertaining items.  Westfield is making Easter baskets for all the residents, and we are asking for donations of word search books, adult coloring books, colored pencils and playing cards.  Any donations can be dropped off at the Westfield front desk.

This week we had a lot of great pet therapy, the residents love it when the dogs visit. This is one of their favorite activities.  Thank you for bringing up your furry four-legged friends for a visit it makes our day here.  Our artists were back at work making spring water color paintings, check out the pictures on Facebook.

For our COVID update this week; Hamilton County is in HIGH positivity rate, so masks ARE required at this time.  We will continue to check the community positivity rates every Friday.  We always want visitors to self-monitor and please don’t visit if you are feeling ill.  I will continue to add this bit of infection control reminders, wash your hands frequently, and use hand sanitizer often. If you are having any COVID symptoms or have been knowingly exposed to COVID please stay home and take care of yourself, we will take good care of the residents, so you do not have to worry.

Here are some interesting facts about spring:

In Spring days are getting longer.  During Spring the Earth’s axis is tilted toward the sun which causes  the length of daylight to increase at the hemisphere that approaches the warm planet.

In Spring weather is getting warmer.  The daylight hours increase resulting in a temperature increase which results in warmer weather.

In Spring flowers grow faster and bloom.  Plants respond to temperature and light. Increased temperatures as well as day length have a major influence on the growth and flowering of many plant species.

In Spring animals have babies.  For most middle latitude animals Spring is the time when their newborns have the best chance of survival due to mild weather and food abundance.

In Spring baby birds learn to sing.  Songbirds learn to sing by hearing their species’ song when they are young and during the first stage of learning they babble more or less like human infants do.

Have a wonderful weekend,

Michelle Broekemier
